Cloud Chaser is a glass-and-steel structured private residence located in a gated residential community at the foothills of Tonto National Forest in Scottsdale, Arizona. Designed by David C. Hovey, FAIA and built by Optima, Inc in 2002 with Todd Kuhlman, AIA as Director of Architecture and Construction this work forwarded and shaped my principals of clarity and simplicity in architecture.
Shadow Caster is the first private residence in Scottsdale, Arizona designed by David C. Hovey, FAIA and built by Optima, Inc in 2001 with Todd Kuhlman, AIA. Sitting on a topographically complex site, the home was designed as a bridge spanning a ravine. This work demonstrates the adaptation of our principals to the vast and beautiful Arizona Desert.
Sterling Ridge is a magnificent residence the Sonoran Desert of Scottsdale, Arizona. Designed to mediate between the high desert landscape and the desire to continue the nature and architectural language of Modernism. Designed by David C. Hovey, FAIA and built by Optima, Inc in 2004 with Todd Kuhlman, AIA as Director of Architecture and Construction,
Camelview Village is a 700-unit mixed use community of 11 buildings in Scottsdale, Arizona. Designed by David C. Hovey, FAIA and built by Optima, Inc in 2010, and a host of talented architects this project contains over 30 acres of landscaping on a 13-acre site. Todd Kuhlman, AIA, selected and placed all planting on-site based on exposure and lighting conditions.
Biltmore Towers are two 16-story mixed-use towers in Phoenix, Arizona. Designed by David C. Hovey, FAIA and built by Optima, Inc in 2006. This project was our first introduction of our bold, modern multi-family architectural vocabulary to the bright and arid southwest. Todd Kuhlman, AIA relocated to Arizona to establish a new company office in 2001 after beginning with Optima in 1989.
Architect Warren Scott’s plan for the remodel of this Leucadia home did more than add contemporary, geometric style to the formerly basic 1981 design and reorient rooms to the expansive ocean views.
Located on the corner of Second and West G Street, an existing duplex and commercial office building will be demolished to make room for a uniquely modern development that blends nine residential units with 2,400 square feet of commercial space.
